Welcome to Kettering Park Infant Academy.

Welcome to all of our families and visitors at Kettering Park Infant Academy (KPIA). I am very privileged and excited to be the head teacher and hope that you find our website useful and informative.

We are all very proud of our three-form entry infant school. We have a nurturing approach throughout the school ensuring that children are at the heart of everything we do and our aim for each child is that they reach their potential. We believe that every child is unique and deserves the opportunity to be the best that they can be; our nurturing approach allows children to thrive and make progress. Our school is part of a multi academy trust (InMAT) and our school values are linked with the InMAT values. We work with the children to develop their understanding of inclusion, integrity, initiative, inspiring and involvement.

Our school is a place where we have high expectations, and achievement is encouraged and celebrated, whilst ensuring that learning is fun and engaging for all the children. We all care and look after each other and our resources; a place where positive behaviour is encouraged and support is given to ensure all children can achieve.

The enthusiastic support of our parents and the wider community is very important to us all and we know that working collaboratively is key for the benefit of our pupils.

Kettering Park Infant Academy is on the north side of Kettering and serves a mixed social economic community. The academy was built in 1889. The main part of the building is Victorian, but there have been several extensions over the years which are in keeping with the original structure.

There are 9 classes across the whole academy, with 90 children in each year group organised into 3 classes of 30. All children within the academy receive whole class, small group and individual tuition as they engage in activities from across the whole curriculum.

Seven classrooms surround the central hall, two further classrooms are in a newer part of the building. The Foundation stage has an outside play area which was extensively refurbished in 2008. This area is part of the playground and accessible to Years 1 & 2 at play times.

A range of equipment and activities are available at play times and lunchtimes. All nine class rooms have interactive whiteboards. The children will have access to laptops and Ipads to support their learning.

The Organisation Of The Academy Day

Morning

KS1 – 8:40 – 8:50am
Reception – 8:50 – 9:00am

Afternoon

KS1 – 3:00 – 3:10pm
Reception – 3:10 – 3:20pm

Children can order a lunch from Dolce or bring in a packed lunch. The children eat their lunch in the hall.

British Values

Our academy reflects British values in all that we do. We aim to nurture our children on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British society and to the world. We encourage our children to be creative, unique, open-minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our academy, our local community and the wider world.

At Kettering Park Infant Academy, we actively promote British values in the following ways:

DEMOCRACY

All children are encouraged to debate topics of interest, express their views and make a meaningful contribution to the running of the academy. The principle of democracy is explored in the curriculum as well as during assemblies and special days

RULE OF LAW

Academy rules and expectations are clear, fair and regularly promoted
Pupils are always helped to distinguish right from wrong, in the classroom, during assemblies and on the playground
Pupils are encouraged to respect the law and we enjoy visits from authorities such as the Police, Fire Service and Ambulance Service to help reinforce this message
The Behaviour and Anti-Bullying policies set out a zero tolerance baseline for any form of aggression, abuse or violence, which extends to pupils, staff and parents and carers

INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY

Within the academy, pupils are actively encouraged, and given the freedom to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment
Pupils are supported to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence
Pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their behaviour and our pastoral support reinforces the importance of making the right choices
Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are advised how to exercise these safely, for example through our e-safety teaching and PSHE lessons
Vulnerable pupils are protected and stereotypes challenged
A strong anti-bullying culture is embedded in the academy and any form of bullying is challenged and addressed the academy operates a robust system of logging incidents
Pupils have key roles and responsibilities in the academy e.g. academy councillors & Playground Buddies

MUTUAL RESPECT AND TOLERANCE OF THOSE WITH DIFFERENT FAITHS AND BELIEFS

Respect is one of the core values of our academy. The pupils know and understand that it is expected that respect is shown to everyone, adults and children
Pupils are helped to acquire an understanding of, and respect for, their own and other cultures and ways of life
Staff and pupils are encouraged to challenge prejudicial or discriminatory behaviour
Links and visits are promoted with local faith communities and places of worship e.g. members of different faiths or religions are invited to the academy to share their knowledge and enhance learning
Through PSHE and RE pupils are encouraged to discuss and respect differences between people.
